Transport & Highways
Trains
We are fortunate to have good access to Tadworth Station which has regular services, via East Croydon, to Victoria, Charing Cross, London Bridge, Gatwick Airport and the South Coast. The TWRA monitors our local rail station to ensure good levels of security and tidiness.

Buses
The local bus services are not satisfactory. On weekdays there are regular services to Epsom, Sutton, Reigate and Redhill. However there are no services after early evening, limited services on Saturdays and no buses on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
A survey carried out by the TWRA in Walton showed that residents would like seats and shelters at bus stops, reduced bus fares, more frequent services and more publicity of routes and timetables.

Parking
The issue of parking remains a great concern for residents of both villages. The Walton LCAP resulted in changes to parking regulations in the village which have to some extent alleviated the congestion in the village. Changes to parking in the centre of Tadworth have resulted in the introduction of 2 hour parking restrictions in Cross Road. These changes have been beneficial to both the shopkeepers and their customers. The Tadworth LCAP will review the parking in the village centre and also at the two other centres at Shelvers Way and High Street.

Surrey County Council is currently consulting on changes to the traffic regulation orders, in particular the position of single and double yellow lines and timing restrictions. The TWRA has responded, making suggestions where we feel there is scope for improvements on safety grounds, and expressing concerns at the suggested reduction of parking spaces near the local shopping parades in Tadworth.

Highways
With Surrey the most congested county in the country, road congestion is an increasing issue. Indeed Reigate & Banstead has one of the highest car ownership rates in the South East region. Planned increased in housing throughout the South East will have the effect of increasing both local traffic and vehicles passing through the Borough.
It is vital to keep our villages as free of congestion and as safe as possible. As a result of consultation during the Walton LCAP HGVs signs have been introduced along the Dorking Road directing large vehicles away from Walton, and a chicane has been constructed to slow the speed of vehicles entering the village.
One result of the pressure on our roads is the serious deterioration in road surfaces and this can be exacerbated by low temperatures. As in the rest of the County many local roads are in urgent need of repair, however the Highways budget will only cover resurfacing of major roads and patching of minor roads.
